Arkansas Wins 45 – 10

The #20 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks got off to a quick start and never looked back, winning 45-10. Running backs Trelon Smith and Dominique Johnson picked up where they left off last week vs Texas, each scoring on the Hog’s first 2 drives. Sophomore quarterback KJ Jefferson hit senior receiver Tyson Morris for a 14 yard touchdown later in the 2nd quarter to go up 21-0.

Georgia Southern finally got on the scoreboard with 7:22 left in the 2nd quarter on a 76 yard run by junior quarterback Justin Tomlin in the 2nd quarter. Arkansas and Georgia Southern traded field goals to close out the first half.
The Hogs wasted no time to start the 2nd half opening with a 4 play touchdown drive capped by a 60 yard KJ Jefferson pass to junior receiver Warren Thompson. The Hog defense held and forced a Georgia Southern punt that was downed at the Arkansas 9. Jefferson only needed 1 play to hit Treylon Burks on a short screen pass that turned into a 91 yard touchdown that pushed the scored to 38-10.
Arkansas capped their scoring for the day with a 12 play, 66 yard drive that ate up 7:01 on the clock. Backup freshman quarterback Malik Hornsby ran 5 times on the drive and scored from 6 yards out.

KJ Jefferson finished the day going 13 of 23 for 366 yards and 3 touchdown passes. He also ran 5 times for 18 yards. Dominique Johnson ran 5 times for 72 yards and 1 touchdown, Raheim Sanders ran 10 times for 43 yards and Trelon Smith ran 8 times for 39 yards and a touchdown. The Hogs ran 48 times for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns while they threw for 364 yards and 3 touchdowns. There were no turnovers by either team.
Next up for Arkansas is their SEC opener in Arlington, TX vs the #7 Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies have won the last 9 meetings while Arkansas leads the all time series 41-33-3 dating back to 1903. The game will be televised on CBS at 2:30 pm. Both teams go into that game undefeated.
